Simple Aromatherapy Recipe: DIY Air Freshener

This is an easy project to keep your home smelling fresh. It’s also a quick and easy gift idea.

Essential Oils

What you will need:

  • Small mason jar with 2 piece lid (You won’t need the flat part, just the ring)
  • A pretty scrap of fabric— (this is optional, but recommended if you have children or pets*)
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • Essential oil (6 to 8 drops) I used 4 drops of peppermint (Mentha x piperita**)and 4 of lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

Combine the baking soda and the oils. Cover the jar with your scrap of fabric and secure it with the ring part of the mason jar lid. Place it anywhere that could use some freshening up.

When the scent starts to dissipate, shake it up.

*A few precautions: Do not ingest. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

**Latin name of the specific plant the oil came from. Sometimes different plants have the same common name.
